CORALLIGEN HABITAT IN THE PROTECTED AREA OF 5 TERRE

The Cinque Terre is a coastal area within Liguria in Italy and comprises five villages Monterosso al Mare, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore.

The protected Marine Area was founded in 1997 and preludes the National Park, founded in 1999, as an effort to protect and maintain proper usage of the sea off the cows of Cinque Terre.

Co.l.mar  mapped 25 sq km of seafloor. This activity was part of the european Marine Strategy program and specifically  aimed to monitor and investigate the status of corraligen habitat.
The whole area was covered with multibeam survey after data analysing the most interesting areas were further investigated with ROV video inspection.
